| RUPAS | |
Rupas are Buddhist statues. The statues shown here are made using the old lost wax process. It is a long process starting from a Handmade model of the figure in wax. The model is covered by clay and left to be dried at the sun for a period of time. When the wax has melted, the clay is covered by melted copper, this is a fine and fragile stage. Once the copper has hardened the clay is crashed , leaving only the copper. Finally the copper is carved and polished to the final outcome of the statue . at some statues the carving is done with silver or gold. To ensure the fine quality of the Rupas, we have chosen statues that are made for monasteries and temples and not only for tourist markets, some of the statues are made by master artists with years of experience and skill.
